Job Introduction

The Vacancy

As an Assistant Finance Manager, reporting to the Financial Controller, your main focus will provide comprehensive financial support and assist in preparing our monthly management accounts for the senior management team of Woodgate & Clark.

You’ll also have day to day management responsibility for two Accounts Assistants and be a mentor for your finance colleagues who are embarking on studies as part to their career development.

About you:

We’re looking for a quality focussed, detail orientated candidate, ideally from a commercial background with finance. You’ll ideally be at assistant accountant level or in a similar level role.

You’ll be an analytical and curious thinker, with the ability to challenge and think outside the box; able to positively ask questions to continually innovate and improve processes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Month end close, including all aspects of general ledger accounting and reporting
  • Production and design of balance sheet packs and first draft of balance sheet commentary for review
  • Assisting with external reporting including year-end/ interim audits, CIS returns, and VAT returns
  • Development of the month end close process, driving efficiencies and streamlining systems/processes
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of accounting systems and records associated with the entities in their remit
  • Robust Cashflow forecasting models and reporting for month end with commentary
  • Leading all financial reporting and forecasting, as well as involvement in budgeting effectively and accurately across various departments
  • Continual analysis, review and improvement of finance processes
  • Conducting monthly variance analysis to support the Financial Controller
  • Ensuring finance processes adopted by the team are robust, reliable and efficient, and can accommodate planned future growth
  • Delivery of ad hoc projects, with expectation that you can deliver significant value with appropriate support from management

You will have / be:

You’ll ideally be CIMA/ACA or ACCA par or fully qualified and have advanced excel skills.  Previous experience in a commercial environment at similar level is a distinct advantage.

  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail
  • A positive attitude with a proactive approach to solving problems
  • Solid experience in forecasting, planning and business partnering
